I begin by thanking our Lord God for such wonderful opportunity to be part of the 1st commencement ceremony of Pioneer International University. We are indeed grateful to God for this far He has brought us. On behalf of the University Management Board, the Senate, Faculty, Students and the entire PIU family, I take this opportunity to welcome you all to this inaugural Commencement of Pioneer International University. Thank you, Mr. Chancellor, for being here today. I extend my gratitude too to the members of the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council. Congratulations, Hongera sana to all our graduands, their families and friends. We at PIU family are proud of your achievement. Mr. Chancellor Sir, In a few minutes, we shall be witnessing a historical moment in the academic life of our University. This moment is defining because for the first time, you shall be performing your statutory duty to the graduands for the first time. This speaker has statutorily constituted the Pioneer International University inaugural commencement assembly a while ago, yet everyone in this congregation will go down in history as the first commencement congregants at Pioneer International University. Mr. Chancellor Sir, the burden of History therefore cannot and should not be lost to all of us. Mr. Chancellor Sir, this graduation ceremony marks the highlight of our academic calendar. This is one occasion that the university community looked forward to. Indeed, nothing gives me greater joy in my work than celebrating the achievements of our students, and witnessing their happiness in receiving their hard-earned qualifications. We are all truly grateful to God for bringing us to this momentous day and we can all say that, this is the day that the lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Mr. Chancellor, (allow me to recognize some of the invited guests and are present (list to be provided) Thank you all for honoring our invitation. Special appreciation goes to our Chief Guest, Prof. David Some. We appreciate your acceptance to come and grace this important occasion in our institution. May the God bless you all. Mr. Chancellor Sir, I wish to report that the University has executed its core mandate of offering quality university education. Our Graduands today testify to this fact. Not only do they demonstrate academic excellence but the graduands before you espouse the virtues of Honesty, Humility, objectivity and tolerance. Mr. Chancellor sir, today we are sending out graduates who are well prepared to face the future with confidence. Mr. Chancellor Sir, in his book Good to Great, Jim Collins presupposes that great institutions progressively improve in a sustainable manner over a period of time-after. Since we became a university, we have made steady progress, the highlights of which include the launching of various market driven academic programs as will be manifested today by our graduands. Indeed, the CUE is at the tail end of approving our Bachelors of Education(Arts)which we shall be offering in the next academic year and our Flagship program-the Bachelors of Flight operations and Business Aviation Management. Chancellor sir, we look forward to Launching postgraduate courses in the coming academic year in the school of Business and the School of Information and Technology. To enhance our quality management systems, we have launched a directorate of quality assurance to mainstream all our systems and operations in readiness for ISO certification. Mr. Mr. Chancellor Sir, we have made strides also in the following areas; community service, Information Communication and Technology, corporate governance, staff services, students services, resources mobilization and management and quality assurance. We intend to build on these gains as we face a very great future for our university as guided by our strategic plan. Mr. Chancellor Sir, in the past academic year, we consolidated our partnership with our international partners. We are member of commonwealth education where we continue to partner with other universities within the group to advance higher education standards. Mr. Chancellor Sir, In the last academic year I received a delegation from Lincoln University in Malaysia led by their Chancellor whom we have entered into an agreement on joint research for our faculty and support for our academics who would wish to advance their studies to Doctorate levels’. Sir, the climax of our international linkages was when we sent one of the highest delegation of students to Hanseo University in South Korea. Mr. Chancellor Sir, this came after a lot of your own commitment to Hanseo on various areas of cooperation between our two universities. This was followed by a visit to our university by a delegation of Hanseo University students and their professors. This visit was very successful and insightful to all our students and faculty. Mr. Chancellor Sir, I wish to thank you because you personally visited Hanseo on several occasions in the past three years to make sure that the foundation on which we stand with Hanseo is mutually beneficial to all of us. We look forward to consolidating this partnership as we position PIU as the University of choice in the years to come. Mr. Chancellor Sir, we thank God for the dreams that we are continuously can translate into reality. We are committed to transformative education that effectively equips learners with skills and knowledge and impacts values that inspire quality service to all. Try us-we shall always listen, partner with us we shall always work together, and together we can translate our dreams to realities.
